BAUMGARTEN, PAGENKOPF, SELL posted by Vincent Heim on Friday, June 19, 1998

Looking for information about Frederick W. Pagenkopf, born 1820 in Baden, Prussia; married Wilhelmina Sell. They resided in Warsaw Township, Rice County, MN from 1850 to 1884. Children: Henry, Julius, Charles, Edward, Ellen, Amelia, Albert, Theodore, Bertha, and William. Some are buried in or near Faribault. Will exchange information I have. Descendents of the "Pagenkopfs" have seemed to have just "vanished". Julius resided in Cannon City until his death in 1924. Amelia married Henry Baumgarten and was a grocery store and restaurant owner in Faribault for many, many years.

FARIBAULT, MATTHEISEN, RHINEHART posted by Donald Mattheisen on Sunday, June 28, 1998

Harriet MATTHEISEN is an ancestor of mine. She was born in Faribault in 1860. She died in Swift County in 1940. Her obituary says that she was born Harriet Ann RHINEHART "in the first log cabin in Minnesota." That's a curious claim. Surely there were log cabins there before 1860. My question is this: is there, or was there, perhaps a log cabin in the Faribault area that is recognized as the first one in Minnesota? Maybe one built by Alexander FARIBAULT, the city's founder??
