DODDS, PALMER, PORTER, SIMPSON, SNELL posted by Rebecca Dodds on Thursday, March 1, 2001

I have many relatives who came to (was Waterford)now Northfield- (in I belive Rice County). First to come here from Illinois was John Simpson, (son of John Simpson and wife Elcy(Alice/Elsie) Palmer-daughter of Asa Palmer and Abbie Wooden from New England.) John Simpson and his wife Sarah Strong Porter(daughter of Dr. Moses Porter and Martha Alvord Snell of Mass.) were among the first to settle in the Northfield area. Their farm was 2.5 miles north of Waterford (now Northfield). Seven children were born here and both John and Sarah are buried at the family graveyard (the 'Red Rose' Cemetery), along with many of their Porter and Simpson relatives. One of John and Sarah's children- Sophia Isabella Simpson met and married a Dr. Robert Moffat Dodds, born in Scotland and it's from this marriage my family line DODDS comes from. Does anyone have any info on these people or need any additional info I could pass along about their ancestors and descendants?
